Mark Plotkin co-founded
the Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) in 1995. In partnership with both
the Brazilian government and Amazon Indian tribes, they have mapped 27.5
million acres in the eastern Amazon and are working to establish a mapping
and conservation center to train Indians throughout South America. For
more information, read Mark Plotkin’s Medicine Quest and Tales
of a Shaman's Apprentice: An Ethnobotanist Searches for New Medicines
in the Amazon Rain Forest. ACT NOW: Save the rainforests, its indigenous
